Isn't it ironic that just as the rest of the country is getting ready for fall, searching for soup recipes and pulling out their sweaters, we are sweltering under a 3rd summer. People not familiar with our climate often chide us for not having seasons but long time South Bay residents know that we have many seasons, sometimes changing from week to week! This year was particularly confusing for us on the coast as it took a long time for the water to warm up, which made for many foggy days. (Side note: We actually never took our down comforter off the bed this year!) But now, just as the kids head back to school, Summer is here in all her glory!
As a kid I was always ready for summer to be over, excited to get back to see my friends and show off my new outfit, even if I was sweating buckets! And later, when I had my own kids, I loved the start of the school year. It seemed like it was a chance to get organized, a fresh start, a time of new beginnings and of course, a fresh calendar and new pens! And now, long after my kids have grown, and have lives of their own I still gravitate to September as the start of a new year. I still get a new calendar, and new pens, but I also am finding time for myself. Time to get centered, grounded and focused on what I want from the year ahead. The beaches are quiet, the water is beautiful and I can hear myself think. If you haven't been taking time for yourself, this is your reminder that Reiki is a wonderful tool for self-care. Mention this blog when you come in, and save $50 on your first session! Reiki also makes a great gift! If you know someone who is struggling to find their peace of mind, a gift certificate is a great option!
